As of late, there's been no hotter market than the crossover segment. There's one crossover, however, that has been in the market long before the hype ignited.

"The Ford Escape debuted in 2001 when the US market offered a single-digit number of small crossovers," writes Jonathon Ramsey, an associate editor at Autoblog. "The Toyota RAV4 was five years old, the Honda CR-V was four, the Subaru Forester was just three. As the crossover models proliferated and SUVs took over a third of the US market, the Escape remained at or near the top of the sales leaderboard: as recently as 2013 the Escape outsold the RAV4 and CR-V."

Like fine wine, the Ford Escape gets better with age; sporting a 2.5-liter engine with independent variable cam design, and the option for two other engines. Available technology makes the Escape also smarter than ever; maximum 3,500-pound towing capability makes the Escape stronger than ever.

Come kick-off your holiday weekend with a test drive in the 2017 Ford Escape.
