My Ford posted earlier this summer about five of the most breathtaking national parks to explore, and more importantly, to drive. Many of the most iconic parks in the country have equally-iconic roads to go with them, like Montana's Going-to-the-Sun Road, or Desert View Drive along the Grand Canyon's south rim.
One of the routes that made the cut was our own California 120. More specifically, the section that runs winds along some of the highest alpine peaks of Yosemite National Park -- Tioga Pass Road.
September is nearly here, as all your back-to-schoolers are acutely aware, but it's not too late to take a summer road trip through the park. Tioga Pass Road is about a four hour drive south of Redding. The 59-mile pass ascends through Tuolumne Meadows, and offers a rare look at fragile high-elevation ecosystems.
You may want to plan your visit quickly! Tioga Pass receives so much snow, ice, and wind, it is closed during the winter -- sometimes as early as October. Visit Crown Ford to test drive a new Ford Expedition with Hill Start Assist, available voice-activated navigation, and three rows of spacious seating. It's the perfect companion for any adventure.
